POETRY - MODERN POEM

Image
This poem was inspired by a teacher that I met during my last School-Based Experience. We talked a lot about the roles of teachers and her experience as a teacher. The thing that I remembered the most is when she said, "Being a teacher is the easiest way to book a ticket to go to heaven and hell. If you taught the pupils well, and did your job with your heart, then you just made your way to heaven. But if you did your jobs indifferently, and entered the class late, then you just booked an express ticket to hell. So, it’s on you to give or take something valuable to people."

Lively HIP (Audience: IPG students and teachers)      For my last School-Based Experience (SBE), I went to Sekolah Temiang, which is located in Simunjan. To be honest, I did not expect anything but to gain experience from the school. However, I knew that I was 100% wrong as soon as I stepped into the school. It was totally opposite of my expectations. I never went to a school where the Highly Immersive Programme (HIP) was so lively. In the past SBE, I can say that the HIP was there, but it seemed dead to me, to be honest. Picture 1: Notice Board at SK Temiang      As I arrived at the school for the first time, I was astonished by the school environment. The school is kind of small and still under construction, but it was colorful and full of informative printed materials in English. The stairs, notice boards, every corner, I can say it everywhere in the school were full to the brim to promote HIP in the school. I never feel so inspired and motivated to do...

Appreciating the Little Things

YES! Another holidays after sem break! It's Chinese New Year! I just want to be at home with my family and take a break from studying. That's what I thought every time I had a holiday. As usual, I'm going to do my "holiday routines" by scrolling TikTok, watching Kdramas, and staying inside my room. But this time, it hits differently. Before the holiday started, I heard the news that my formal teacher in my secondary school got involved in an accident with his wife. Fortunately, his wife survived, but he didn't make it. When I heard the news, I just couldn't believe it. It just feels like yesterday that he taught my class. As you know, it's really eye-opening; we may live by taking every moment for granted and never appreciating any of those times because we thought it was just another boring day for us. Therefore, for these short holidays, I spent quality time with loved ones and did something that I always wanted to do as long as I got the chance. We ...

" Daddy, I love you!" I woke up, and my eyes teared up. "I love you too, princess, " I said as my tears went down my face and I hugged her little teddy bear that I kept after years of her death. Loki sniffed and looked at me just like he knew how I felt. "It's okay, Loki." Loki is the dog that we adopted a few months before Nathalia passed away. She always wants to have a dog for her birthday. I looked out the window, it seemed like a fine day. I brought Loki for a walk around our neighbourhood that morning. Then, I saw Nathalia's mom, with her new husband. Our eyes met, and she just looked away. I knew that she was still mad at me, that she hated me, perhaps because of our princess's death. I walked away with Loki and returned home.       As we walked home, I saw a strange man stand and stare at Loki and me. Loki barked at him. He looked like a beggar, but he was wounded badly, and his eyes were red. I was scared to death just looking at ...
